Cersaie 2026: ceramics as a design material

Cersaie 2026: from 21 to 25 September, Bologna once again becomes the international meeting point for the world of ceramics.

This year’s theme, A space for architectural design, captures a shift that is now clearly visible: ceramics are no longer conceived simply as a surface covering, but as a true design material, able to build the identity of a space and connect architecture, interiors and landscape.

Among the trends emerging from the new collections are increasingly textured, tactile surfaces, reliefs and controlled irregularities, together with colours drawn from nature: beiges, clays, ochres, browns and greens. Interpretations of concrete are also becoming warmer and more refined, while glazes, mineral inclusions and chromatic variations bring the relationship between material and light back to the centre.

Cotto d’Este presents a reinterpretation of concrete in eight shades. “Shade” moves beyond the traditional monochrome reading of concrete with a palette of eight tones – Shine, Shadow, Clair, Écru, Dune, Coffee, Musk and Rubra – ranging from the brightest neutrals to earth-inspired hues. A material to be touched. Designed to interact with materials, furnishings and light, the range broadens the expressive possibilities of a project, offering an extremely versatile tool for residential, hospitality, retail and contract settings.
